A figure, standing or seated, moving restlessly. I have grown accustomed to watching him gesture around another, smaller figure.Absorbed in his work, nothing seems able to disturb my father, especially when he puts on his headphones. He creates a space in which only he and the block of clay can communicate. When he steps out of this space, taking a step back to contemplate his creation and discover it anew, I look at the clay transformed into a head.He leaves it to dry in the kitchen, then places it beside the others. We share our home with this tribe of beings. But he is not finished.I see my father sitting in front of a black box, making large, abrupt gestures with a camera. His movements echo those of a wave.Once satisfied, or exhausted by this ritual, he walks away, and I discover a head inside the box.Later, he shows me photographs of these subjects against a black background — or rather, emerging from it.They surge out of this abyss.Their eyes turned towards the heavens. But what are they looking at?What is my father looking at?
